Halt. And face me. Unlike you traitors, I prefer to face my enemies head on. Do your worst.
~ Urbosa facing the disguised Yiga Footsoldiers.
A hundred years in the making. Hold on little princess, our moment has arrived!
~ Urbosa fires upon Calamity Ganon.

Urbosa is one of the major characters who has appeared in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and made her return in Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity. She is the wielder of the Scimitar of the Seven and the Daybreaker and is capable of generating lightning from a snap of her fingers which she dubs Urbosa's Fury. She is a motherly figure to Princess Zelda in light of the death of the latter's biological mother and she became the Gerudo Champion of Divine Beast Vah Naboris upon being selected, along with Mipha, Daruk, and Revali, while Link accompanies Zelda throughout her travels outside Hyrule Castle.

What Makes Her a Guile Hero?[]

  • Not only does Urbosa have outstanding leadership skills, but she is also very skilled with the sword and shield, and she can utilize lightning to shock her enemies into submission.
  • Urbosa immediately accepts Zelda's proposition to accept her fate as the Gerudo Champion with her motivations through her desire to take down the Yiga Clan and Calamity Ganon, whom she showed disdain for harming her people's reputation in the past when it was once a Gerudo man. She looked up to Nabooru as her hero who made a difference for the Gerudo.
  • Given that she is familiarized with the Yiga Clan's stealthy underhanded tactics and disguises, Urbosa can easily see through disguises as shown in the EX Champion Urbosa's Song memory scene, where she sees two suspicious travelers passing by and she correctly assumes them to be the Yiga Footsoldiers.
  • She happens to be the most insightful regarding the problems of others, most notably when it comes to her people who worry for her well-being when she was chosen to be the Gerudo Champion, Princess Zelda who was struggling all her life to figure out how accessing her power works and Urbosa deduced that her cold treatment towards Link was due to her comparing herself who didn't accomplish anything to Link who managed to succeed at a milestone. She even somehow saw that Link himself has trouble expressing himself due to his duties and his chosen hero position without any implication she knows of his backstory whatsoever.
  • When Princess Zelda takes advantage of Gerudo Town's law that disallows men from going inside and Link tells Urbosa about it, she teaches him a trick to getting inside without being seen as a man, by disguising himself as a Hylian woman, but the princess had disappeared, so she promises Link that she will let him know when she turns up and she ends up keeping that promise.
  • When Link meets with her on Vah Naboris with Zelda, who is sleeping at the time, she tells him of Princess Zelda's troubling tale of her struggles with being torn between her duties and her passions with ancient technology. Her diary reveals that she is intending to help set their strained relationship on the right path.
  • Even beyond death a hundred years later, Urbosa guides Link to the map where he can explore the interiors of Naboris to locate the terminals and the Main Control Unit and advises Link to be careful of Thunderblight Ganon's might.
  • Once Vah Naboris is free from corruption, Urbosa appears as a spirit to thank him and tells Link to assure Zelda that she shouldn't need to carry any guilt over what happened to her and the Champions.
  • In Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity taking place in another timeline, she managed to expose her fake copy as Master Kohga before he could kill the princess and her allies, and she reveals herself as the real deal when she addresses Zelda as "little bird" with a gentle nature whereas the fake called the princess by her full title in a hostile way.
  • When they were chasing the Yiga Clan out of town, Urbosa sees a giant desert Molduga and uses her knowledge of its extensive hearing and tells her allies to use anything to make loud noises to get its attention and scare off the Yiga Clan.
  • Urbosa stands up to Revali multiple times whenever he acts rude, and her tone makes it known to him when she isn't pleased with him to prevent the conflict from escalating.
  • Urbosa offers to help protect Hestu during their travels through the dense Korok Forest to reach the Master Sword.
  • When Urbosa catches Princess Zelda comparing herself to Link on the way back to Hyrule Castle, Urbosa gives her a pep talk and tells her that Link is still the same person he was before and after getting the Master Sword which keeps Zelda from forming any resentment towards Link.
  • Urbosa helps her allies liberate Akkala Citadel when it was overtaken by the Yiga Clan led by Sooga in order to get the Akkala Tower working again.
  • When Urbosa learns that the Sheikah Towers can distill regional maps on the Sheikah Slate, she decides to take advantage of this knowledge to track down the Yiga Clan Hideout and lead a preemptive strike against them.
  • After being saved by Riju from Thunderblight Ganon with Link and his friends destroying the monster before it could kill them, Urbosa uses Vah Naboris's lightning powers to strike the top of Mt. Rhoam to release an updraft so that they can use the updraft to reach Vah Medoh to do Revali and Teba the same favor with Windblight Ganon.
  • When Teba was about to comment on Revali's personality, Urbosa cuts him off as to prevent him from saying something regretful.
  • Urbosa and Riju set off to the Royal Ancient Lab where they protect the Sheikah scientists from the monsters and the Yiga Clan led by Master Kohga, after that, when Kohga swipes the Thunder Helm from Riju and taunts Urbosa that her electric attacks won't work on him, Urbosa knows that the Thunder Helm doesn't work that way and manages to shock him anyway.
  • When Riju was discouraged by the vast numbers of enemies, Urbosa reminds her that she is the reason why she lived and wagers that nothing can stop them.
  • When King Rhoam and his royal guard narrowly escaped death by the Guardians, finds himself cornered by Moblins, Urbosa and her Gerudo vai soldiers came to his rescue to prevent Zelda from losing a parental figure. She tells him that his daughter is on her way to the Great Plateau and that she has come a long way and her wings have gotten stronger than that of her mother.

Trivia[]
