Okabe Rintaro (or Hououin Kyoma) is the main protagonist of Steins;Gate. He is an eccentric University student who is finding numerous amounts of coincidences in the world around him that leads him to believe that time-travel is a possibility. He goes under an identity that is known as Hououin Kyoma, who is a mad scientist that acts under a highly sporadic and optimistic persona of one who can do anything. However, he made the persona to make Mayuri happy.
What makes him a Guile Hero?[]
- At 18, he had valuable knowledge of time-travel and of the time-machine that is known as D-Mail.
- He had the perseverance to travel to multiple world-lines and to the past to save Mayuri from points of convergence to ensure her safety.
- He saved Kurisu Makise from her father after failing to do so once by getting himself stabbed by her father in her place. In the process of saving her, he faked her death to ensure that there is not a time-paradox.
- He ensured that Dr. Nakabachi's stolen research was burned in a plane fire so that it wasn't given to the Russians.
- In the Beta worldline, he persevered and never stopped until Mayuri and Suzuha's time-machine was never blown up by Dr. Leskinen.
- He travelled back in time to rescue Suzuha and Mayuri.
- He not only stopped World War III once, but twice.
- Even though he is portrayed as being pitiable for a lot of Steins;Gate and Steins;Gate 0, he recovers and goes back to a badass "mad scientist".
Trivia[]
- Okabe and his lover Kurisu Makise are the only two Guile Heroes from Steins;Gate for now.
- Even though Steins;Gate0's Okabe nearly didn't count for this wiki due to how he fell too deeply into his tragedy, he still qualifies anyways for stopping World War III and saving five billion people at the very end by not giving up on saving Mayuri and Suzuha, even in the midst of his grief.
