Katniss Everdeen is the main protagonist of The Hunger Games films. She is the eldest daughter of her family and she lives on District 12. Katniss Everdeen takes care of her family by providing them food through hunting and by entering tickets for the Hunger Games. Unfortunately, her sister, Primrose Everdeen is chosen to participate in the Hunger Games, which prompts Katniss to volunteer in exchange for her sister. During the Hunger Games, Katniss uses her wits to survive and by teaming up with Peeta Mellark.
What Makes Her A Guile Hero?[]
Hunger Games[]
- Learned hunting skills and archery skills from her father.
- Takes care of Prim and her family by hunting food for them after her father died in a coal mining accident.
- Volunteered as a tribute of the Hunger Games to save Prim from participating in the Hunger Games.
- Got training from Haymitch to get herself ready for the Hunger Games.
- Immediately grabbed an orange bag during the start of the Hunger Games.
- Scavenged the supplies in her orange bag,
- Walked around the forest to look for water.
- Prepared snares to catch animals for food while she slept on top of a tree to prevent herself from getting spotted by the other tributes.
- When spotted by the career tributes, she climbed on top of a tall tree to save herself from getting killed by them.
- Took Rue's recommendation of cutting down a tracker jacker nest and make it fall on the career tributes while they are sleeping on the ground.
- While the career tributes are busy running away from the tracker jackers, she takes the time to steal Glimmer's bow and arrows while the latter is dying from the multiple stings of the tracker jackers.
- Forms an alliance with Rue to survive the Hunger Games.
- Creates a special signal with Rue as a way to alert each other whether they are safe or endanger.
- Has Rue create a fire to distract the career tributes while she takes the time to destroy the supplies of the career tributes.
- Shoots an arrow at a net of apples and caused the apples to trigger multiple mines that destroyed the supplies for the career tributes.
- Managed to dodge a spear that had been thrown at her and had quickly reacted to kill the tribute that threw the spear.
- Mourned and made a funeral for Rue.
- Looked for Peeta Mellark, so that they can work together to survive the Hunger Games.
- Went back to the Cornucopia to gather medicine for Peeta's sword cut wound.
- Shot Cato in the arm with an arrow to give Peeta the chance to throw him to the wolf mutts.
- Killed Cato in mercy to prevent him from dying in an agonizing way.
- She and Peeta attempted to commit suicide to show their love towards each other and to spite the Capitol for putting them in the Hunger Games.
Hunger Games: Catching Fire[]
- Said her condolences to honor Rue's and Thresh's death towards District 11.
- Wanted Haymitch to make sure that Peeta doesn't enter the Hunger Games again.
- Teamed up with Mags Flanagan and Finnick Odair to increase her and Peeta's chances of surviving the Hunger Games.
- Warned Peeta when he was about to hit a force field and deeply worried about him when he shocked against it.
- Warned Mags, Finnick, and Peeta about the poisonous effects of the fog.
- Upon discovering that water neutralizes the poisonous of the fogs, she orders Finnick to jump into a puddle before dumping Peeta in the puddle.
- Realized that the thunder that is used to time the disasters that are going to be implanted into the arena.
- Shot an arrow right at the sky while the arrow was still wired with the thunder hitting the tree. It resulted in the destruction of the Hunger Games arena, giving her a chance to get rescued.
