Jonathan Joestar is the main protagonist of Phantom Blood, the first part of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure.
What Makes Him a Guile Hero?[]
- Jonathan Joestar graduated from university after having written a celebrated thesis in archaeology.
- After George Joestar I, Jonathan Joestar's father, became ill and Jonathan Joestar found letter of Dario Brando, Dio Brando's father, Jonathan Joestar noticed that his father suffered from the same symptoms as Dario Brando, and suspected that Dio Brando had poisoned Dario Brando and George Joestar I. Later, with the help of Robert E. O. Speedwagon, Jonathan Joestar found Dio Brando's poison supplier, Wang Chan, obtained the antidote for his father, and called the police to arrest Dio Brando for attempting murder.
- Jonathan Joestar researched on the Stone Mask and deduced the spot in the brain it pierces, though he didn't discover its true purpose.
- When Jonathan Joestar was confronted by vampirized Dio Brando, who has killed everyone presented and shown his superhuman strength overwhelming the non-Ripple Jonathan Joestar, for the first time, Jonathan Joestar quickly thought about trapping Dio Brando in the burning Joestar Mansion by making Dio Brando impaled by the statue of the goddess of love.
- Jonathan Joestar became a capable user of Ripple after a little week of training from Will Anthonio Zeppeli, his Ripple teacher.
- When Jonathan Joestar was confronted by Jack the Ripper, Will Anthonio Zeppeli gave him a glass of wine and ordered him to defeat Jack without spilling a drop as his final test for Jonathan Joestar. Jonathan Joestar realized that the wine is infused with a Ripple that detects people nearby and Ripple could travel through materials, Jonathan Joestar detected and killed Jack the Ripper despite Jack the Ripper was hiding.
- When the battle between Jonathan Joestar and Bruford went underwater, Jonathan Joestar overcame his inability of breathing underwater, which disabled Jonathan Joestar's usage of Ripple, by realizing that Windknight's Lot was a coal mining town, successfully found air bubbles with the fact he realized, and using the air bubbles to breathe again to properly use Ripple to force Bruford out of the water.
- When Jonathan Joestar confronted Dio Brando and knew Dio Brando's usage of Vaporization Freezing Technique, a technique which absorbs heat of people Dio Brando physically contacted and therefore freezing them to death, Jonathan Joestar countered Dio Brando's freezing attempt on him by setting his fist on fire and using a Ripple-infused punch into Dio's stomach to send plummeting off the edge of the balcony.
- Despite Dio Brando managed to survive the attack, later attacked the ship Jonathan Joestar and Erina Pendleton boarded as Wang Chan caused a zombie epidemic on the ship, Jonathan Joestar's throat was shot, and Jonathan Joestar was about to die, Jonathan Joestar used his final Ripple to destroy Wang Chan's head and manipulate his body to obstruct the engines in an attempt to cause an explosion that would sink the ship and possibly kill Dio Brando and his minions for good.
