Hermione Jean Granger is the tritagonist of the Harry Potter franchise.
She learned, at the age of eleven, that she was a witch and had been accepted into Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Hermione was sorted into Gryffindor House. During her years at Hogwarts, Hermione would become the best friend of Harry Potter and Ron Weasley, and the latter would become her boyfriend, husband, and father to their children. She would assist the two in fighting against Lord Voldemort, a power hungry wizard who has personal ties to Harry's past.
She is portrayed by Emma Watson. In Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, she was portrayed by Noma Dumezweni in the West End production.
What Makes Her a Guile Hero?[]
- She is overall one of the most intelligent characters in the franchise; she is the brains of the Golden Trio, excels in almost every subject she has ever studied, and often benefits Harry and Ron with new clues or information from utilizing logic and researching on her own in the library.
- Saves Harry and Ron from punishment by lying to Professor McGonagall that she went looking for the troll.
- Saves Ron from the Devil's Snare by conjuring a jet of bluebell flames.
- Discovers Nicholas Flamel's role in the Philosopher's Stone through research, which leads her to realize that Fluffy is one of the obstacles guarding the Stone.
- Solves a potion riddle needed to reach the Philosopher's Stone.
- Brews Polyjuice Potion for the trio to disguise as Draco's companions, allowing Harry and Ron to question Draco about the Heir of Slytherin.
- Concludes the entity responsible for attacking Muggle-born students to be a basilisk and confirms her suspicions through research. She leaves a note of her research with a hint, which helps Harry and Ron solve the case even after she is Petrified by the creature.
- Correctly suspects that Harry received his Firebolt from Sirius Black and has McGonagall confiscate it. Although Sirius turned out to be innocent, they were unaware at the time.
- Deduces Lupin's condition as a werewolf from observing his attitude and reaction towards a full moon.
- Starts the Society for the Promotion of Elfish Welfare (S.P.E.W.) to campaign for the rights of house-elves.
- Figures out that Rita Skeeter is an unregistered beetle Animagus based on how she obtains private information and blackmails her into giving up on writing libelous stories for a year and later writing a favorable interview with Harry Potter.
- Originates the idea to form the organization that comes to be known as Dumbledore's Army.
- Convinces Harry to try to contact Sirius before heading to the Department of Ministries to ensure they are not walking into a trap. Although they are tricked by Kreacher, this was still a smart precaution.
- Tricks Umbridge with a lie about a secret weapon and alongside Harry lures her to the Forbidden Forest, where she is captured by the centaurs.
- Modifies her parents' memories to protect them from Lord Voldemort and the Death Eaters.
- Helps Harry in hunting down Voldemort's Horcruxes and is the one to prepare resources for the quest, including books, Polyjuice Potion, and memorizing the essential spells.
- Packs clothes, supplies and Harry's Invisibility Cloak for the trio ahead of time in the event they needed to go on the run, which comes into fruition when Death Eaters attack Bill and Fleur's wedding.
- When Ron and Harry fight each other due to being possessed by the locket Horcrux, she stops them by casting a Shield Charm.
- Saves Harry from Nagini in Godric's Hollow by casting a Blasting Curse at the snake.
- Casts the Stinging Jinx on Harry when the trio are captured by Snatchers, which prevents the Death Eaters from recognizing him.
- Refuses to give information to Bellatrix Lestrange even as she is brutally tortured.
- Secures a piece of Bellatrix's hair, using it to disguise as her with Polyjuice Potion later on.
- Fights in the Battle of Hogwarts.
