Fox McCloud is the main protagonist in the Star Fox franchise. He is the leader of the Star Fox team.
He was voiced by Shinobu Satouchi, Kenji Nojima and Takashi Ōhara in Japanese and by Dan Owsen, Mike West, Steve Malpass, Jim Walker and Joe Zieja in English.
What Makes Him a Guile Hero?[]
- Fox was frequently taught by his father to never give up and this lesson would stick with him all his life.
- He is incredibly skilled in many areas in combat, from flying Arwings, to using the Landmaster and Blue-Marine, and has strong marksmanship and even knows how to use a sword once in the Farewell, Beloved Falco manga when he was fighting Captain Shears to show that he is able to adapt to new situations.
- Fox has proven to be thoroughly strategic as shown when he comes up with different ways to handle new missions, such as doing a stealth mission on Zoness, to sneak their way through the planet and shooting down the searchlights, coming up with an idea to destroy the enemy base on Macbeth to severely cripple Andross's forces, going to Slippy's rescue on Titania when he gets swatted by Spyborg despite General Pepper's warnings about its dangerous environment, and defusing a bomb in one of the allied bases on Fichina while taking on the Star Wolf team.
- He has his teammates to stay behind to make sure he doesn't lose them as with what happened with his father and deals with Andross personally, and even as the base explodes, James leads him out of the base safely.
- When Pepper gives them an offer to join the Cornerian Army, Fox declines and prefers that they operate independently.
- Fox goes out of his way to save Sauria from imminent destruction and he collects the SpellStones and the Krazoa Spirits and he also used his wits to fight against the hostile dinosaurs and the SharpClaw Tribe led by General Scales. This also results in Krystal being set free and Andross being defeated forever.
- When Andrew Oikonny leads a rebellion against Corneria, Fox takes the initiative and arrives before anyone could contact them, possibly because he took notice on what's happening.
- Fox still usually has his teammates remain airborne in most missions, but he will allow certain teammates to join him on ground missions (excluding Falco, who naturally prefers their air) when he knows that he needs an extra hand.
- He finds himself joining forces with Star Wolf during the Corneria stage when he was saved by his rival Wolf, even when he was surprised that he would do this, but Wolf claims that he did that so he can defeat him later.
- Fox has even pushed through some extremely emotional situations such as when he has to shoot down Pepper when he gets infected, even though he clearly doesn't want to, and watching his only father figure destroy the shield blocking the entrance to the Aparoid Homeworld with the Great Fox, and he resisted the impersonations of his fallen friends (and one foe) created by the Aparoid Queen.
- It would later be revealed that Fox knew about the existence of the escape pod in the Great Fox that Peppy and ROB 64 used to escape an explosion.
